Day 9: Kinghorn gold lights up final day

Kadeena Cox, Sophie Hahn, Georgina Hermitage. The British women are making sure the IPC World Para Athletics Championships end on a high for Great Britain at London Stadium, as well as Aled Davies’ world record gold last night. As the final day of the championships started, new women took on the responsibility, and succeded. 

In the T53 Women's 100m, Samantha Kinghorn was going for a double sprint gold and third medal overall in London. She delivered in the morning session of the last day of events in a time of 16.65 seconds, beating Australia's Angela Ballard. She'll go for a triple gold in tonight's 800m, can she pull it off?

This was the closing race of a successful morning for Team GB as Polly Maton won silver in the T47 Long Jump. The 17-year-old has struggled all season in the event but has come away from a home championships with a medal.

A gold medalist in his event here in 2012, Mickey Bushell was sixth last year in Rio. He took a silver in the T53 100m behind Canada's Brent Lakatos. Lakatos took his fourth gold in London, tying with Tatyana McFadden and Walid Khatila for best individual showings.

Welshman Jordan Howe made it a hat-trick of silvers this morning in the T35 100m. On his global stage debut, Howe can be proud of his performance in front of a electric home crowd.

Elsewhere, Akeem Stewart broke a 20-year-old world record on his way to his second gold in London. The Trinidad athlete dominated the field in the F43 Shot Put, his throw of 19.08m added almost five metres to the record.
