Cockroft class shines to take second gold

Hannah Cockroft stormed to a world record run in the T34 100m on opening night, she took on the T34 800m next. Cockroft proved her class once again as she claimed her second gold of the week.

 

Fellow Brit Kate Adenegan took bronze ahead of Carly Tait.

 

New world record holder Sophie Kamlish completed the perfect day by winning gold in the T44 100m. London born Kamlish blitzed world champion Marlou Van Rhijn to her first world title, only three hundredths off another world record after setting it herself in the morning session.

 

Richard Whitehead continued the medal spree with bronze in the T42 100m. After his 200m gold, he couldn't do the double but finished strong to gain a podium spot.

 

USA’s Tatyana McFadden took victory in the T54 women's 400m. Her incredible championships continue.

 

Ukraine's Leilia Adzhametova took their medal tally to four golds, winning the T13 women's 100m.

 

Whilst there were more crowd celebrations in the F41 men's Javelin. China's Pengxiang Sun wasted no time as he flew into his coache's arms after a gold medal performance.

 

Double gold for Kamlish and Cockroft keeps Britain now tied with USA on 11 golds, but America have seven silvers and nine bronzes, overtaking them on total.
