British Women steal the show to start Day Four

Olivia Breen kick-started the events in the T38 women's Long Jump. A gold medalist in the 4x100m relay at the last world championships, Breen, 20, was 12th in her new event at last summers Paralympics.

 

On her way to a new personal best of 4.81m, she shocked the field to win a first major individual title in front of a packed London Stadium.

 

After Jonnie Peacock’s superb winning run last night, Sophie Kamlish was looking to follow on in the T44 100m women's event. 

 

If there was any pressure it was not on show as Kamlish blew everyone away in a world record time of 12.90 seconds, sending the home crowd into raptures. 

 

29,000+ school kids were in attendance and were being treated to a special day of action.

 

As golds and records were flying around London Stadium, Richard Whitehead progressed to the T42 100m final after winning his heat. Already victorious in his speciality T42 200m, Whitehead looks for his first title at this distance.

 

Fellow Brit David Henson failed to join him, but Richard Chiassaro secured a place in the T54 800m final after a third place finish in his heat.

 

USA’s Tatyana McFadden kept up her individual winning streak in the T54 1500m.

 

Celebration of the day goes to Tunisia’s Rima Abdelli after victory in the F40 Shot Put. The passion was clear to everyone as she ran into the crowd to celebrate with her team.

 

Breens gold takes Britains tally to nine, two silvers and five bronzes. McFadden’s second gold keeps USA one behind on eight with Tunisia and China both on four
