A very special guest will lead West Ham United out at London Stadium during today’s Premier League fixture against AFC Bournemouth.
We are honoured to host three-year-old Isla Caton, from Hornchurch in Essex. Isla was diagnosed with a rare child cancer called Neuroblastoma - the same disease which tragically took the life of football fan Bradley Lowery last year.Â
Isla is currently undergoing an intense 15-month course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital, after the aggressive cancer spread to her bones and bone marrow.Â
Her parents Nicola Caton and Michael Hook want to raise more than £190,000 for Isla to undergo specialist treatment called immunotherapy in the United States - which involves the injection of an antibody - it is currently not available in this country.Â
Nicola will be joined at London Stadium by her husband Michael, Bradley Lowery’s mother Gemma and representatives from the Bradley Lowery foundation who all support the #TEAMISLA campaign.Â
As well as leading the teams out for this afternoon’s Premier League fixture, supporters can donate to the campaign via a bucket collection on Stadium Island outside the West Ham United ticket office, or keep an eye on the Stadium scoreboards for details on how to donate via text and online. “We are trying to raise £192,000 to get her to USA as soon as she finishes treatment to receive the Bivalent at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, in the hope that it will prevent her neuroblastoma returning,†Nicola explained.Â
“Isla is the bravest little girl we have ever met and she has a long way to go through her treatment. We want to give Isla the best-possible chance of fighting this terrible disease by taking her to the US to undergo treatment not available in this country."
