Guns N’ Roses featured prominently in the 2016 LoudWire awards, with members of the reunited lineup taking four victories from six total nominations.
At the sixth Annual Loudwire Music Awards, fan votes saw Axl Rose claim both Best Vocalist and Rock Titan of the Year, Slash was named Guitarist of the Year and Duff McKagan took home the award for Bassist of the Year.
Rose saw off competition from Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy and Disturbed’s David Draiman to secure victory in the category for Best Vocalist of the year, in a wide-reaching category that also saw Chino Moreno, Greg Puciato and Jonathan Davis nominated in the field.
Slash faced a similar battle in his category, but fan votes saw him streak ahead of Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti in the rankings. The two were standouts in the vote, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine & Kiko Loureiro ranked in a distant third.
McKagan’s tilt to the title of Best Bassist of the Year was a similar landslide, receiving more than double the votes of his nearest competitor - Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson. Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers ranked third.
Rock Titan of the Year offered the widest selection of nominees, Rose beating stiff competition from Ghost’s Papa Emeritus III, David Draiman and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor to complete his double.
The band were also nominated for Best Live Act and Most Devoted Fans, pipped both times by Japanese sensation Babymetal - who will open for Guns N’Roses when their Not In This Lifetime tour rolls into Japan.
Guns N’Roses will play their only UK shows at London Stadium on Friday 16 & Saturday 17 June 2017. Very few tickets remain for each night, and more information can be found here…
